Oracle’s India Expansion

Oracle Corp, a US based business software developer, plans to add 1,400 employees to its sales, consulting and support operations in India. Oracle is expanding its focus on business among small and midsize companies in the India’s towns and rural areas.

Oracle currently has an Indian workforce of 8,600 and operates in six Indian cities, with plans to expand to nine additional cities in the next with months.

In the past five years, Oracle Corp. has invested more than $2 billion in India. The company has R&D centers in Hyderabad and Bangalore. The Bangalore site is its largest research facility outside the US.

Oracle has more than 6,400 customers in India. In India, 80% of banks and 90% of telecommunications companies use Oracle software.
